I'm Diana Chiu, an up-and-coming Software Engineer hailing from the sunny town of San Luis Obispo, California. Pleasure to meet you!
My passion is building, in both virtual and real spaces. I love to create things, especially things that are super-extra-over-the-top-adorable, or at least make people happy.
I like puns, puppies, purple, puzzles, programming, and pretty much anything sweet.

Input coffee; output code, right?
Not quite! I'm an avid tea drinker, I actually can't stand the taste of coffee. My current favourite (and perhaps all time favourite!) is Dilmah's Earl Grey. The runner up is a rose and black tea mix with sea salt cream. Mmm!
My favourite snarky programmer joke is that I can google better than the average bear.

What happens when someone unplugs me?
Regrettably, we must all turn off the screen at some point-- kidding. I do more than just programming! I really like doing arts and crafts. I often can be found offline, knitting hats, crocheting scarves or plush toys, or sewing something or other.

Windlyn Online
I run and am constantly building an online community called Windlyn Online! In short, Windlyn is an entertainment website complete with casual games, extra cute avatar customization (in the form of virtual paper doll-esque dress up), pets, and a wonderful community always ready to chat. I design, program, and draw everything on the site myself, and it takes up most of my free time.
Windlyn started as an expression of frustration that internet "safe spaces" I used to frequent closed down, and alternatives that were available didn't quite have the same environment or features I was missing. When I was in High School, I began building on a super simple PHPBB board, with very little idea of how to work on an existing framework, use version control, deal with sessions, users... how to do anything I wanted to, really. Since then, Windlyn has turned into my personal sandbox as I learn. As I get better at what I do, programming and art alike, I get to share more and more of my world with people from all across the globe. How cool is that?!

Programming for Everyone
Introducing Hackermums, the programming curriculum for the less than tech-savvy. Josh Terrell and I run a class for our friends and family to learn to become programmers, at a level that our mums, who work in non-technical fields, can easily understand.
